The acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ambassador Umar Damagum, has issued a stern warning, suggesting that ongoing pressures against him could lead to serious consequences if he decides to speak out. Damagum made this statement during the inauguration of the reconciliation and disciplinary committees at the party's headquarters on Wednesday.

Damagum emphasized his commitment to stabilizing the party, stating, "Nobody can intimidate me into abdicating my responsibility. I have a duty to stabilize this party, and I intend to carry out that duty without fear."

He called on party members to support the PDP, attributing the party's current challenges to the actions and inactions of some members. Despite facing numerous crises, Damagum reassured that the PDP remains a formidable political force in Nigeria.

In addressing the ongoing controversy over the defection of 27 Rivers State lawmakers to the APC, Damagum defended his and the National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu's, actions, citing precedent for their decisions.

Meanwhile, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has reaffirmed his loyalty to the PDP, dispelling rumors of his departure from the party amidst the ongoing internal crisis. Wike, who marked his first anniversary as FCT minister, stated, "I have no plans to leave the PDP," and confirmed his commitment to staying and fighting within the party.

Responding to calls for his resignation, Damagum noted that the increased pressure is a result of his rising popularity and indicated that he is considering a presidential bid due to the support he has received.

The party's Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BOT), Senator Adolphus Wabara, also stressed the importance of the new committees, urging them to act impartially and decisively to uphold the party's and the nation's integrity.
